Roy Rea

Background

With over 40 years of industry leadership experience, Roy oversees the long-term strategy NETCOM’s vision along with his team of highly experienced industry professionals. 

He paid his industry dues with multiple installation, project management, and financial roles through major corporations, strengthening his technical competence and business acumen. These skills, coupled with a strong desire for more widespread industry impact, led Roy to starting his first company, Communications Services, in Frederick, MD. His success led to the acquisition of Communications Services by a major distributor in Washington, DC.  

Committed to , NETCOM Technologies, Inc. in 1988, a low voltage contractor prioritizing the perfect combination of product knowledge and genuine relationship formation.

Roy’s track record of business performance stems from a strong passion for proactive learning and education, as well as a genuine care for the quality of work his team produces. 

When he’s not leading NETCOM into the next generation, Roy lives his personal life in alignment with our values. He partakes in various charitable opportunities, including XXXX, YYY, ZZZZZ.  He also spend much of his time off with his family,

Ryan Rea

Ryan's Background

Bringing 20 years of experience to the role of Executive Vice President & COO, Ryan has covered nearly ever square inch of NETCOM’s capabilities since he began with the company back in 2005. 

His expertise stems from conquering the full gamut of roles and responsibilities, including: Warehouse Manager, Field Technician, Estimator/Engineer, Project Manager, Account Manager, Proposal Manager, and Sales Executive. Through the skills he’s acquired and challenges he’s faced, Ryan understands what it requires to successfully lead in the highly competitive DMV market. 

Assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2013, NETCOM sought out Ryan’s operational prowess to reignite our project structures, reporting processes, and operational procedures; with the end goal of creating a stronger and more streamlined project lifecycle process. 

While a jack of all trades at NETCOM, Ryan is best known for his incredible ability to interpret and utilize data to make well-informed business decisions. Considered the go-to guy for any Excel related questions, Ryan knows the spreadsheets inside and out. His ability to

Background

Mary’s career incorporates more than 20 years of overseeing financial and accounting functions for multiple companies in the construction industry. Joining our Executive Team in 2020, Mary was quickly trusted with the  unprecedented challenge of navigating NETCOM successfully through the COVID-19 Pandemic, which forced our team to re-envision our traditional financial and operational procedures.  

In her tenure as Chief Financial Officer, Mary provides senior leadership for our regional and national sales accounts and project teams, while overseeing every aspect of NETCOM’s accounting transactions, financial reporting, and new partner onboarding. 

Additionally, Mary manages all business relationships, compliance, and reporting to the proper financial institutions and tax authorities, making sure we are always compliant, accurate, and low-risk when we pursue future opportunities.  

Mary is praised amongst the NETCOM team for her incredibly strong attention to detail, organizational qualities, and her speedy and accurate responses to all questions. Her organization qualities shine brightest in her second role of “Chief Fun Officer”, where Mary organizes all NETCOM’s company gatherings, making sure the team not only works hard, but has fun as well. 

When she’s not crunching the numbers or planning parties, you can find Mary indulging in her passions for cooking and reading. As an amateur chef and avid baker, she has an affinity for cuisines from all around the globe, and baking roughly 8,000 cookies for her community during the holiday season. When the kitchens all clean, Mary caps off her evenings immersed in a good true crime or psychological thriller book.

Matt Serr

Matt's Background

With nearly 25 years of experience in the industry, Matt cut his teeth early in his career in the early days of Silicon Valley, where he experienced the massive influx of attention and investment pouring into the new internet-related tech companies during the “dot-com” bubble. 

His experience in the Bay Area, coupled with nearly a decade overseeing Network Infrastructure and Services across Virginia Tech’s main campus led him to stepping into the role of Director, Telecommunications Business Unit for NETCOM. 

Matt’s role at NETCOM tasks him with defining and leading business KPI’s across our Telecommunications department. In addition to facilitating business objectives, Matt oversees the Telecommunications project teams, maintaining budget, certification, and schedule compliance for every project we undertake. Matt is also an expert when it comes to estimating and engineering projects, creating the best solutions at the optimal price points for our customers. 

Amongst his colleagues, Matt is appreciated for his high industry knowledge and exceptional ability to “manage a million different things at once, while still answering your emails and Teams messages almost immediately.” 

In an effort to continue providing value to his team and NETCOM’s customers, Matt’s set his sights continuing to enhance his educational repertoire. This includes becoming Outside Plant Cabling and Data Center Design certified, while prioritizing development courses in Project Management. To accompany his professional education, Matt wants set aside more personal time for travel to expand his knowledge of global cultures and build lasting experiences with friends and family.

When he’s not driving business functions for our Telecommunications team, Matt prefers to spend his time disconnected from technology grilling in his backyard, wood working, or creating works of art with his 3D printer.

John Staples

John brings an exceptionally well-versed and unique background to his role of Director, Audio-Visual Business Unit at NETCOM, where he tackles the challenge of growing the . 

John exemplifies NETCOM’s core value of “Service Above Self” dating back to his time as an active-duty officer with the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Aviation Electrician (AE2) with the United States Navy. He served for nine years, before . 

His true passion for audio-visual equipment was on full display post-military career, where he played for audiences across the DMV-region as a professional DJ. Working intimately with high caliber equipment developed John’s competence programming and repairing the equipment, but also gave him the ability to witness first hand the valuable human connection that’s created through audio-visual experiences. He parlayed this experience into being an Audio-Visual Field Technician specializing in building our residential and small corporate Audio-Visual set ups.  

Like many on the NETCOM leadership team, John climbed through the ranks, excelling in engineering, estimating and project management roles, before directing the Audio-Visual Engineering team at Kalothia.

John’s set a number of future professional and personal goals aimed at growing NETCOM’s Audio-Visual competence nationwide. Professionally, he’s prioritizing providing unparalleled design services to our customers by capturing his AVIXA CTS-D certification, pairing that with his pursued mastery of 3D room renderings in Revit. Personally, John’s running toward the future, literally, by training for his first half marathon at the end of 2025. 

When he’s not engineering the latest and greatest AV technologies, John finds himself skyrocketing his adrenaline through a wide array of hobbies. John taps into his athletic side as an avid boxer, scratches his creative itch as a live music DJ, and channels his inner Formula 1 driver through his love for fast European cars.

Bill Lucas

Director, Data Center Business Unit

Bill's Background

Bill joined NETCOM in late 2024 to strengthen leadership and reinvigorate our growth to our Data Center division. Bill is committed to making sure NETCOM is known as a preeminent Data Center services provider.

Bringing nearly 40 years of sales and project management experience to the table, originating in the mortgage loan business, Bill brings a strong entrepreneurial spirit and determined work ethic. 

After 15 years in mortgages, he took a leap of faith and started his own residential Audio-Visual company, combining his passion for AV with his strong business acumen. 

The economic shakeup in 2009 saw Bill pivot towards the commercial side; focusing his efforts on providing exceptional Telecommunications and Security products and services to Commercial Enterprises and Data Center end users. 

Bill had great success within this industry until September of 2023. 

When he’s not strategizing new ways to grow our Data Center division, Bill spends his time indulging in many passions, particularly traveling, cooking different Italian and Mexican cuisines, and collecting Italian red wines. 

He also enjoys watching his Ohio State Buckeyes football team, and getting out in the sunshine to enjoy a nice game of disc golf.
